Bunkervan expands its range by 2024 with the introduction of a new model based on the Ford Transit chassis in its 4×4 version. This vehicle is designed to offer an off-road experience of maximum freedom, maintaining the characteristic comfort for which the brand has stood out over the years.
The BKV 2.0 Distribution presents a redesign of the space that incorporates apparently subtle but highly significant changes:
- The galley has been relocated behind the passenger seat, creating a larger central area. This adjustment facilitates simultaneous use by several people without the uncomfortable friction typical of this type of vehicle.
- The upper bed has been arranged longitudinally, allowing the two people who occupy it to go up or down independently. This design also avoids the feeling of being confined between the side walls.
- The trunk is located at mid-height and offers ample space with capacity for two bicycles. Its configuration allows the dining room to be used with the rear doors open, providing the opportunity to enjoy the views while inside the vehicle.
AWD
The effectiveness of this vehicle's traction system is due to two fundamental characteristics:
- It incorporates a 4.10 axle ratio, which provides a first speed so short that it resembles a reduction gear.
- Traction in normal mode is automatic, which means that if the vehicle detects slippage on one of the axles, it can transfer more power to the other automatically.
In addition, it is possible to lock the center differential to distribute traction evenly, dividing it 50/50 between both axles.
In our models, it is common to find a rear space equipped with a U-shaped dinette.
In the case of the Forested model, we have implemented a layout that contributes significantly to the feeling of spaciousness. By placing the refrigerator opposite the closet, just after the dining room, we create a more open and spacious area. This strategic layout not only optimizes the use of space, but also makes the model perceived as more spacious and welcoming.
Behind the dinette, there is a folding shelf that performs a double function: separating the trunk from the living area and providing an additional support surface.
This shelf is extremely practical at times when we want to enjoy an aperitif without having to use a table, offering the convenience of a space to place food or drinks while in the dining room.
Upper bed with longitudinal orientation of 1,85×1,45 meters.
This bed design offers two notable advantages:
- The longitudinal arrangement leaves the foot area free, avoiding the feeling of confinement experienced in transverse beds when the feet or head collide with the walls.
- It allows one of the occupants to move freely without disturbing the other when getting in or out of bed.
In addition to the main bed, the dinette can be transformed into an additional bed with transverse orientation, offering a versatile solution to accommodate more people comfortably during the night without compromising living space during the day.
“The kitchen in the front area of the camper offers a series of advantages that significantly improve the flow of use in the central area:
- Cook without Interruptions: By having the kitchen in the front, you can cook without interruptions while other people access the bathroom, leave or enter the camper, or go to the refrigerator.
- Access to the Bathroom and Refrigerator: The location of the kitchen allows other people to access the bathroom or refrigerator without interfering with the cooking process.
- Changing Clothes Without Problems: It also facilitates access to the closet to change clothes comfortably and without obstacles.
“This arrangement contributes to optimizing space and guarantees a more efficient and practical flow of use in the central area of the camper for all occupants.”
Full bathroom with shower.
Our motorhome has two clean water tanks with a total capacity of 115 liters. In addition, the water heating system works with diesel from the vehicle's original tank, guaranteeing hot water in just 5 minutes from ignition.
This water heating system ensures a constant supply of hot water thanks to its direct heat design, without the need for a storage boiler.
The closet is complete from floor to ceiling, with two compartments with shutter-type doors that facilitate its opening by not opening outwards, which is advantageous in small spaces.
In addition, it incorporates a drawer in the lowest area to store shoes without having to bend down excessively.
Refrigerator located in an elevated position to increase comfort.
With a capacity of 90 liters, the freezer can be integrated with the rest of the refrigerator or kept separate.
The door opens on both sides, allowing access from the kitchen area, the dining area or even drinking fresh water from bed.
Spacious trunk, ideal for transporting up to 2 bicycles or other objects independently and isolated from the home.
Unlike other 4×4 model designs, in our case we have paid special attention to ensure that the necessary installations in the lower part do not restrict the entry, exit and ventral angles, thus maintaining the original specifications of the Transit AWD van.
The model shown in the photos is equipped with a 2-inch lift kit that improves these specifications, in addition to having offset tires that compensate for the increase in height.
